The Malecón in Barranquilla is the most visited spot for tourists and barranquilleros alike: a walkway alongside the Magdalena river, with restaurants, parks and sports fields.

The river trip leaves from here. You reach the dock and board LA MITA, a ferry that takes about two hours along the Magdalena: under the great Pumarejo bridge, the highest in Colombia and the widest in South America, and through the Ciénaga de Mallorquín, thick with birds and the vegetation of the region.
