The old town of Cartagena — declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984 for its beauty and its cultural weight — is ringed by kilometres of old walls that make up the walled city.

Beyond the hundreds of years of history behind the cobbled streets, there is the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, a seventeenth-century fortress.
